Having a systematic & planned calendar for the rituals, ceremonies and festivals, Nepal is a country of highly cultural people. Kathmandu Valley in particular is famous for its exceptional way of celebrating different Festivals and Jatras. The diverse festivals of Nepal will allow you to have insight on new aspect to Hindu & Buddhist religions. The eight essential rites of Hindus, also known as ‘Ashtasamskaras’ viz.  Namakarana, Anna Prasana, Karnavedha, Chudakarma, Vidyarambha, Upanayana, Vivaha and Antyeshti, can be closely scrutinized during the trip in Nepal.
Nepalese people have tremendous respect for their culture and religion and expect same amount of respect from the foreigners who visit Nepal. Marriage is also a ritual matter, though two people get married, it is regarded as the bonding of two families. Most of the marriages are arranged & conducted from November to mid December and Mid January to March. Nepalese Hindu marriage has been a subject of fascination for foreigners as well.
The prosperous cultural heritage of Nepal, has evolved over the centuries. The unique diversity in culture, religion, language and ethnicity of Nepalese has turned them into highly tolerant people. Public display of affection between men and women, even married is not appreciated. Kissing, hugging, and hand- holding in public are considered offensive to most Nepalese. Revelation of body parts by women is considered indecent behavior, though men have relative freedom in this matter.
