Dolpo region trekking info

Dolpo region is a high altitude remote area situated in the western region of Nepal, partly located in Shey Phoksundo National Park and bordered by Tibet from the north. Dolpo, celebrated as one of the hidden valleys of Nepal, stands out as high inhabitant trekking spot which is fairly visited by tourists due to its inaccessibility. Despite isolation, this region can be most fascinating and apposite for trekking. Trekking to this region was profoundly opened from 1989. The most suited season to trek this region is February to May and November to December. Being bordered by Tibet from the north, people here are culturally inclined to Tibetan where most of the people follow Tibetan Buddhism.
The major attraction of this region can be sorted as Saipal base camp, Api Himal base camp, Limi Valley, Upper Dolpo, Lower Dolpo, Rara lake, Shey phoksundo lake, Shey Phoksundo National Park and many among others. Further, trekking to Dolpo region offers soothing views of spotless snowy peaks, ancient and isolated villages, rich wildlife, Buddhist monasteries etc. One can also have opportunity of exotic views of Rara and Shey Phoksundo Lake, the lake popularized for no aquatic life in it.
