Trip Overview

Located on the North-Western part of Nepal, Mount Annapurna 8091 meter is undoubtedly an astonishing peak. Annapurna, the tenth highest mountain in the world, was first ascended by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal along with their expedition team on 3rd June 1950. The team was first permitted to climb Mt. Annapurna I by the then Nepal government. Though it became the first 8,000 meter mountain to be successfully climbed, it is perhaps the most dangerous mountain to be climbed today. Annapurna in Sanskrit plainly means "full of food" but is popularly know among the people as ‘Goddess of the Harvests’. Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna and Annapurna South are the major peaks on the Annapurna range. The main summit which we will ascent i.e. Annapurna I is to the west of Annapurna sanctuary.

Considered as the world's most dangerous mountains to climb due to its ever changing glacial architecture, big ice cliffs and its proneness to avalanches, Annapurna has resulted to high rate of fatality. It requires tremendous amount of courage and determination to accomplish the summit of Annapurna. Along with the risk, it has its perks as well; the feeling of self actualization and unmatchable achievement awaits you in the summit. The extraordinary view gigantic mountains stretching around you, fascinating geographical settings and taste of Thakali culture are the additional rewards. Neighboring Pokhara, the tourist capital of Nepal, the entire massif of Annapurna and surrounding area is protect within the 7,629sq km Annapurna Conservation Area, the first and largest of its kind in Nepal.
