Trip Overview

Cholatse, also nicknamed as Jobo Lhaptshan, is one of the most challenging yet adventuresome peaks located in the Khumbu Himalayan region of Nepal. Most often known for its tough climbing, Cholatse is best suited for those who esteem to have some thrill and escapade all around. Connected to Taboche (6501m) by long ridge, the peak hits the highest to 6440 meters from the sea level.  The logistic complication of the peak with steep faces makes climbing a daredevil job without abundant mountaineering aptitude. The peak was first ascended by Vern Clevenger, Galen Rowell, John Rowell, and Bill O’Connor in 1982 through the southwest ridge,  the easiest among the discovered routes. The peak falls under group “A” climbing peak as categorized by Nepal Mountaineering Association.

Cholatse peak climbing  offers its climber with splendid views of peaks such as Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7879m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8475m), Baruntse (7720m), Ama Dablam (6856m), Thamserku and many among others. It also offers scenic views of Gokyo and Khumbu valley which is worth watching. More than charming, this peak climbing is thrilling and scary. Seriously not even a single climber since 1982 has inked his experience as easy taking. So, we strongly recommend this climbing stuff for those who have skilled ice and rock climbing with some mountaineering practice.

Aforementioned complication of the peak requires climbing to be arrange with professional and well practiced guide. Further, a well designed itinerary is very much essential for proper ascend and acclimatization by the team members. The details of climbing have been provided in itinerary below. Blaze mountain adventure  are also please to manage a separate itinerary on your request. Blaze mountain adventure operates Cholatse Peak climbing throughout the year.
