Hiunchuli is another beautiful and astounding trekking peak situate in the Annapurna region of central Nepal as an extension of Annapurna South. It stands as fourth highest trekking peak elevating to the height of 6441 meters. The eastern face of Hiunchuli together with Machhapuchhare guards the Modi Khola valley, a slim section providing access to the Annapurna Sanctuary. It is fairly approach by tourists for its complexity regarding rock fall and path discovery. The expedition led by U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer Craig Anderson first climbed this peak in October 1971. Explored by Jimmy Roberts, this peak is believed to be a sacred mountain of Gurung ethnic of this region. This peak climbing is also admire as one of the ecotourism destinations in central western region of Nepal.

Southeast and Northwest faces are the usual routes to begin with. The route offers tough climbing that is best realize with true expedition approach. The unseen dangers of rock fall, hanging glaciers and difficult route finding makes the journey challenging and adventuresome. The trail passes through steep and dense bamboo forest observing the panoramic views of Annapurna Himalaya range. The northern view of the mountain shows it rising steeply to make a series of tattered walls and imprecise north ridge, leading to form the summit ornamented with shiny snow, above the moraines of the Annapurna South glacier. Approaching the Hiuchuli peak one can see striking view of peaks that comprise Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Annapurna III, Annapurna V, Machhapuchhare, Tharpu Chuli, Singu Chuli, Baraha Sikhar, Khansar Kang, Gangapurna and many more.
