Trip Overview

Mt. Kumbhakarna (7710 m), formerly known as Jannu himal, is one of the splendid mountains in the eastern part of Nepal. Located at a distance of just eleven kilometers from Mt. Kanchenjunga Kumbhakarna expedition is a difficult mountain  in comparison to other peaks with greater heights. Named after Kumbhakarna, brother of Ravana (major antagonist in Ramayana), the mountain has a giant like formation. With a summit pyramid that is steep on all sides, it will really be a challenging endeavor for the expeditioners.

The first successful ascent to the peak was made by a team led by French alpinist Lionel Terray in the year 1962. The approach to the summit via the southeast ridge, which started at the Yamatari Glacier, south of the peak and followed a circuitous route to the large plateau known as the Throne (a hanging glacier south of the summit). This became the standard route to climb the Kumbhakarna, which we will also follow during our expedition trip.

Ability to challenge and win over the physical and mental constraints are the major weapons to succeed in this venture. The experience of climbing or trekking in high altitudes can be an added advantage during the expedition. Blaze mountain adventure is here to cater all the outdoor adventure; expedition to the grand mountains of Himalayas being our forte. The costs depend on the group size, service demanded and various other factors, and are the subject to negotiations. In case of any confusions or difficulties about expedition in nepal, feel free to make an inquiry, it would our pleasure to provide you with genuine and generous response.
