Namtso Lake is an extremely gorgeous and pleasing aquamarine lake beautifully placed in the mountainous prefecture of Tibet. Precisely situated in the itinerant country of Damsung, the lake is one of the three holy lakes of Tibet. Namtso was included in the list of five most beautiful and scenic lakes in China by Chinese National Geographic magazine.( in 2005). In Tibetan language the lake holds the meaning of Heavenly Lake. It is often incorrectly entitle as highest saltwater lake in China. But, there are many small lakes settle above it. Literally Namtso (4718 m) is the highest lake in the world with an area more than 500 sq.km. The lake is beautifully spread in the area of 1920 km2.

The Namtso lake trekking starts from Damshung valleys passing through the Lagaen-la pass at an altitude of 5180 meters into the mystical vicinity of Tash-Do heritage. From here we enter the remote region of Nyanchen Thang-la range. Also ultimately to the magnificent banks of Namtso lake with the panorama of Nyechen Tangla mountain on the back drop.
