Trip Overview

Nirekha peak is yet another fascinating trekking peak extending along the Mahalangur Himalayan Range in Khumbu region of Nepal. To be precise, the peak is chain along with Lobuche summit outspreading close to the Tibetan border in the north. So, the peak conceals itself among the snow gaints: Mt. Cho Oyu and Mt. Cholatse, of the Everest region. The first ascent to the peak was made by Matt Florets and Gerg Valentine in 2003 and was lately included as group “A” climbing peak. The peak stands 6186 meters tall from the sea level.

The usual ascent to the peak follows the popular trekking trail to Gokyo valley from Lukla. The trail then moves along trekking route to Chola Pass and heads to north following a narrow trail. Having trekked so long, one reaches to Nirekha Base Camp. Ascending above from here is quite difficult requiring fixed ropes, ice screws, and other ice equipment. The peak includes two summits: North summit and South summit. However, it is hard to assure which one exactly higher. The climbing through North summit is a bit easier but difficult at places which requires crossing difficult cleft.

Approaching through south summit is tough as path along this way includes hard blue ice.  Despite being a tough take, the peak offers jaw- dropping panorama of Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest (8848 m), Mt. Nuptse (7879 m), Mt. Lhotse (8516 m), Mt. Lhotse Shar (8383 m), Mt. Makalu (8475), Mt. Baruntse (7720 m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6856 m) and many among others.

This climbing is fascinating and at conditions a tough one. So, it is sincerely suggested to those with guts for some bold stuff. Experienced one with good physical condition should attempt this trail. The particulars of this trip will outline in the itinerary provided. However, Blaze mountain adventure can arrange a separate one on your request. Blaze mountain adventure operates Nirekha peak climbing throughout the year.
