Best Season for the Lower Dolpo Trek:
The best time for the Lower Dolpo Trek is in spring. During these months, the weather is usually very clear and stable, meaning ideal conditions to go trekking. While pleasant temperatures, blossoming flowers, and lush greenery create a vibrant scenario along the trail in spring. While autumn offers clear skies, crisp air, and breathtaking panoramic views of the peaks that are draped with snow, this is just the correct time to enjoy the trek. In addition, these seasons offer comfortable trekking conditions, with perfect trail conditions. The winters and monsoon seasons are best avoided, for the weather could be quite inclement and trails could well be inaccessible.
Food and Accommodation on the Lower Dolpo Trek:
The basic food and accommodation facilities in the Lower Dolpo Trek are good enough to provide comfortability while traveling in this area. Teahouses on the trails have enough stock of food items of both Nepali and Tibetan origins like dal bhat, momo, thukpa, and tsampa, or roasted barley flour, for nutritional requirements for the trekkers. Food will be very basic while you go to the higher altitudes; however, you will still get rice, pasta, potatoes, and soup. Stay hydrated with tea, coffee, and bottled water; most of the teahouses provide this.
Accommodations such as teahouses and guesthouses are simple and locally run. The rooms are basic, having a bed with a pillow and a blanket, but you will probably want to bring along your sleeping bag for added warmth. At the facilities, you will hardly find any luxury. However, the warm hospitality, besides the stunning natural beauty around, compensates for a lifetime memory in itself.
