Best Season for this Trip:

If you want Api Himal Base Camp at its best then plan your trek for spring (March-May) or fall (September-November), and the previous months? They're perfect. The weather gets settled, mountain sights are even greater and the whole scenery seems astonishing. You have hours of clear blue sky, develish temperature and paths bringing you constantly onward. In spring the forest grows full of rhododendrons & wild flowers everything looks so full of life, the slope shines with emerald green and even the air smells fresh and pure. Days aren't either to hot or too cold, so you can walk eagerly, enjoying the splendid views of shiny snow topped Api Himal.

The best part is, fall is when the scenery shines. The summer monsoons blow away the dust and the seasons are in, in all their splendor. The Himalayas are sweet crystal blue, the trails are dry, the temperature is cool enough for snuggling, not cold enough to freeze you out. And with more individuals on the trail it still never feels crowded on the Api Himal. You'll have miles of wilderness to yourself and that feeling of quiet, unspoiled Nepal that you won't find in the crowded trekking areas of Everest and Annapurna.

Not to mention, you could give winter (December to February) or the monsoon season (June to August) ago. But, be warned, it'll be a bumpy ride winter storms blow across the paths with snow and ice and the higher you go, the more treacherous it becomes. During the monsoons, there's episodic rain, slimy mud, sanguineous leeches and a grisly mist that cloaks you from the views. Even getting away is no mean feat on occasion you cannot totally rely on your plans. Because of this, if you're looking for fantastic scenery and a trip you will actually enjoy, consider visiting when it's spring or autumn.

Food and Accommodations on Trip:

The food and accommodation of the Api Himal Base Camp Trek is local simple true and suitable for remote Nepali Himalaya trekking adventures in far-west of Nepal. Due to more remote and off the beaten paths of the trekking route, most of the trekkers stay in local teahouses, homestays and simple lodges, where basic facilities like warm beds with blankets and Shared eating area will be accessible in return for modest prices after a super long trekking day in the wilderness of the Api Himalaya. It's more about raw nature and culture instead of luxurious services, unlike on commercial trekking routes like Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

The food on the Api Himal Base Camp Trek is mainly traditional nepali as well as fresh and locally produced so gives you that genuine mountain experience while on the trek. The typical diet on the trek is Dal Bhat which is rice, lentil soup, vegetables and pickles mainly served with bread, Bhat is very nutritious and will give you that much needed sustained energy needed at those high altitudes. Other food staples include noodles, Tibetan bread, potatoes, and soups, tea and seasonal vegetables given the village you are in. as you travel further into the more remote Api Nampa Conservation Area the food will become more humble but still lively and tasty and the tea houses on the way will serve hot water for tea, ginger tea, Black tea and garlic soup which are also very helpful for acclimatization to the cold Himalayan conditions. The overall experience of food and accommodation on the Api Himal Trek will compliment your journey and give you a deep insight into rural mountain life in Nepal whilst viewing the outstanding scenery of the Api Himal area.
