Best Season for this Trip:

The Sailung Trek is most enjoyable in the spring (March–May) and fall (September–November), when the weather is clear and the scenery is at its most colorful. These times of year provide nice temperatures, breathtaking vistas of the mountains, and a fun hiking experience. But every season has its own special appeal, so here's what to anticipate in each of the four seasons:

Spring is the most beautiful season to visit Sailung. The hills surrounding this trek would be vibrant with rhododendrons А and a myriad of different wildflowers. Although the temperatures are mild (between 10ºC to 20ºC) and thus comfortable for trekking. Beautiful clear skies offer 360° views of the Everest, Langtang, and Gaurishankar ranges. Wildlife is also more present this time of the year, making the experience even more rewarding. Nepal’s monsoon season which brings heavy rains that turn the trails slippery and muddy also coincides with the summer months. The temperature fluctuates between 15–25°C depending on where you live, whilst at the same time the humidity can be quite high. While the verdure is at its zenith, the prevalence of rain and cloudy skies often obscure views of the mountains. But for the solitude- and lush landscape-loving hiker, this season is an option with adequate rain gear and planning.

Autumn is the most popular season for trekking in Sailung as the weather is stable, mountain views are crystal clear and temperatures vary between 10°C-18°C. After the monsoon, the air becomes fresh and the landscapes are lush and vibrant. This season overlaps with Nepal’s major Dashain and Tihar festivals, giving trekkers a glimpse into local cultural celebrations. In the winter months, Sailung gets really cold and temperatures as low as -5°C and as high as 10°C can be recorded especially in the top elevations. Light snow fall can also add a magical touch to the hills. Although trek remains possible, freezing temperatures and snow can make the trek difficult. But if you are someone who loves to be alone and wants to walk on crisp mountain air, you can have a majestic experience of winter trekking in Sailung.
