Best Season for this Trip:

Lower Dolpo trekking is most splendid when spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons are chosen. Besides stable climate, these seasons also bring the best views of the mountains. They also guarantee the clearest of skies, pleasantly warm during the day, and trails in excellent condition, overall making the trek less dangerous and more pleasurable.

Lower Dolpo being situated in the Himalayan rain shadow area, has a dry climate which results in pleasant trekking conditions with very little rainfall compared to other parts of Nepal. Spring, besides March to May shooting and flowering of rhododendrons, colors of various wildflowers and the green of hill slopes also accompany the trekkers on their path. The temperatures remain comfortable throughout which is conducive to the trek while at the same time there are the fabulous panoramas of Himalayan peaks all around.

Those interested in wildlife will have a good season to be in heaven, as spring is the time when many animals native to the area range more actively within the Shey Phoksundo National Park. Autumn (September to November), Then again, is probably the most favored time of the year for the Lower Dolpo Trek. When the monsoon has rained only very little, the atmosphere reverts to a fresh and brilliantly clear kind, which goes to show rocky outcrop and snow capped peaks as well as deep valleys and turquoise waters of Lake Phoksundo, in a most gorgeous manner. The excellent weather, lack of disturbances, and the colorful festivals of the mountain villages, which are linked to the cultural heritage of the Lower Dolpo region, make the autumn time doubly attractive for nature as well as culture lovers.

Food and Accommodations on Trip:

Keep in mind that the food and lodging on the Lower Dolpo Trek are Mostly basic, genuine, and set to help adventurers in one of the oldest unexplored corners of Nepal. Not only will you be hanging around local teahouses, guesthouses, and community lodges wherever you find them along the route, but in the rapids of more isolated parts where lodging is very few, you might end up camp, by the carta, of the scribe, the itinerary. They clean and keep the facilities at a reasonable level, and even provide a comfortable and warm place to lay one's head after a day of the mountain walk; majority of the rooms have two beds with a blanket each, a toilet, and a dining room shared among everyone, all common features of the trek. The meal is the main course; the dishes offered keep you charged throughout the day.

Most liked ones are dal bhat, fried rice noodles Tibetan bread momo thukpa, potatoes pasta eggs, soups pancakes porridge, and seasonal vegetables. Tea coffee hot lemon, and other warm drinks are usually offered at most tea houses, but the food options become fewer as you rise in altitude.
