Best Season for this Trip:
You can experience the Upper Dolpo Trek at its best during the spring (from April to June) and autumn (from September to November) seasons. Stability in weather, perfectly clear skies, and the most magnificent views of the mountains are characteristics of these two seasons. It is not only the comfortable temperatures that spring has, but also the cheerful wildflowers and flowering meadows, and a colorful scenery, which is naturally the main attraction of the trail. Yet, in autumn, one can enjoy the fresh air and dry trails, with excellent visibility and very pleasant trekking conditions. For these reasons, this season has become one of the most popular ones for exploring the inaccessible valleys, the ancient Buddhist temples, and the high mountain passes of Upper Dolpo. In fact, these two seasons are the best for photography, wildlife spotting, and immersing oneself in the true culture of the Dolpo area. The Upper Dolpo Trek is remarkable for Really it is located in the rain shadow of the Dhaulagiri Himal range.
This means that unlike other places in Nepal, this is one of the few trekking destinations, which can be visited even during the monsoon season (in July and August). Whereas the rest of Nepal will probably have heavy showers, Upper Dolpo remains fairly dry. This way, those who trek can have the chance of a leisurely walk on the trails and get to see breathtaking views with very few other visitors. Winter (December to March) is usually not a good time to go as there can be a lot of snow, temperatures might get very cold, and the snow-laden high passes can make the trek difficult. Spring and autumn, with all their natural charm, are still considered the best seasons by many for an outdoor adventure, as they provide the most suitable combination of good weather, outstanding scenery, and safe trekking conditions.
Food and Accommodations on Trip:
During the Upper Dolpo Trek, food will mostly be light and energy-giving to keep you going into those challenging days ahead. These are mostly traditional Nepali and Tibetan cuisine menus that include dal bhat, vegetable curries, Tibetan bread, and noodles. You will be provided with porridge, eggs, and bread for breakfast. These can become simple choices but are nourishing meals to help you keep moving upwards. Several teahouses do provide western alternatives such as pastas or pancakes for some changes.
In the trek routes, the trekkers provided with very basic, simple clean, and normal local teahouses and lodges. Room in the same is with just basic amenities such as having wooden beds to sleep and the same have shared toilets and hot water-blankets. Up high, the tea houses get very basic; however, expect them to still be warm and welcoming. A perfect place for amalgamation with the local culture, interaction with the friendly people of Dolpo-these teahouses are surely the best natural spots, though highly basic, lit up with warmth from their hosts and, more so, nature herself.
