This trip is suited for intermediate to advanced riders. Although the trail is not without it’s moderate region on the way up hill it seems evenly mixed with responsibility of well paved roads, dirt trails and paths through the woods. To make the most of this cycle challenge and to keep comfortable on the journey, a good level of fitness is advisable. The first day’s ride, from Kathmandu to Nagarkot, can be challenging with a degree of altitude gain, relatively, the views are spectacular.

Seasonal weather can also vary. Temperatures in Kathmandu are relatively mild, but Nagarkot at a higher elevation may be cooler, especially during the mornings and evenings. Packing layered clothing is crucial to adjust to varying temperatures. Spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November) are the best times to visit when the weather is clear and good for cycling, with the mountains offering stunning views and a pleasant climate.
